Expiration, Replacement, and Transfer of Registrations [Portions Omitted]. 9-18.1-11-2. Dates. 9-18.1-11-5. Failure to register. 9-18.1-11-2. Dates. (a) If the date on which the registration of a vehicle expires is a day on which all license branches located in the county in which the vehi cle is registered are closed, including: (1) a Sunday; or (2) a legal holiday listed in IC 1-1-9-1; the registration expires at midnight on the date fol lowing the next day on which a license branch located in the county in which the vehicle is reg istered is open for business. (b) Except as provided in subsection (a) and IC 9-18.5-34-3, a person that owns or operates a vehicle may not operate or permit the operation of a vehicle that: (1) is required to be registered under this chapter; and (2) has expired license plates. (c) Aperson that operates or permits the oper ation of a motor vehicle in violation of subsection (a) The bureau shall collect an administrative penalty of fifteen dollars ($15) from the follow ing persons: (1) A person that fails to: (A) register; or (B) provide full payment for the reg istration of; a vehicle within forty-five (45) days after the date on which the person acquires the vehicle. (2) Except as provided in subsection (b), a person that fails to: (A) renew; or (B) provide full payment for the (b) commits a Class C infraction. 9-18.1-11-5. Failure to register.

(d) A temporary license plate issued by the bureau must be displayed in the same manner as an interim license plate under subsection (c). (e) Upon the renewal of a registration under this article, a license plate other than a temporary license plate must display a renewal sticker: (1) that is securely affixed in the upper right corner of the license plate; and (2) that covers the previous registration expiration year. (f) Aperson that violates this section commits a Class C infraction. 9-18.1-4-5. Vehicle may not operate on high way with license plate belonging to another vehicle. (a) A vehicle required to be registered under this article may not be used or operated on a high way if the vehicle displays any of the following: (1) A license plate belonging to any other vehicle. (2) A fictitious registration number. (3) A sign or placard bearing the words “license applied for” or “in transit” or other similar signs. (b) A person that operates a vehicle in viola tion of subsection (a) commits a Class C infrac tion. 9-18.1-4-8. Knowing sale or possession.
